In this paper are presented some research results of the project "Analysis of the L.I.O.P. impact on the sustainable development of Romania". Romania, in partnership with the EU and the European Sustainable Development Network, supports and works to materialise the principles of the 2030 Agenda at both national and local level. The objective of the research is to highlight and analyse some progress or developments on the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in Romania related in particular to the implementation of the L.I.O.P (Large Infrastructure Operational Program). First, conceptual and methodological aspects of the progress indicators of the SDGs in the EU and Romania are outlined. Accumulations and outcomes from the literature and from previous own research on the systemic and synergistic character of the SDGs, the comparative qualitative and quantitative analysis, tables and graphs will beharnessed. The results of the analysed indicators suggest that significant progress has been made in most SDGs, including with the help of policies, reforms and programmes financed from European funds, leading to Romania's 4 positions advance in the world ranking on the SDGs implementation. However, there are still important gaps from the average European Union level of significant indicators. Lately, efforts in Romania, the EU and around the world to implement the SDGs have been severely affected or impeded in 2020 by a health, economic and environmental crisis caused by the SARS-COV 2 pandemic. Some trends, implications and prospects for progress towards the SDGs will be addressed in the conclusions and recommendations.
