Paradigm Shift in Teacher Education in Response to Multilingualism and English in a Changing World

In this presentation, I explore the evolving landscape of teacher education in the context of a rapidly changing globalized world characterized by increasing multilingualism and the ubiquitous presence of English. As societies become more interconnected and diverse, the role of teachers as facilitators of effective communication and intercultural understanding becomes pivotal. This paradigm shift in teacher education necessitates a fundamental reevaluation of pedagogical approaches, curriculum design, and teacher preparation programs. Teachers need to be equipped with the skills to address the linguistic diversity of their students while fostering proficiency in English, taking into consideration the global role of English in today’s world.
