ENHANCING LITERARY COMPREHENSION: INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO TEACHING SHORT STORIES IN ENGLISH

This paper aims to explore and evaluate innovative methodologies for teaching short stories in English, with a focus on enhancing literary comprehension and critical thinking skills among students. Through qualitative research, including participant observation and interviews with students, we investigate the effectiveness of various teaching strategies. Our findings reveal significant improvements in student engagement and analytical skills when incorporating interactive methods such as group discussions, role-playing, and the use of multimedia resources. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of selecting culturally relevant short stories to foster a deeper connection and understanding among diverse student populations. The implications of these findings are far-reaching, suggesting a need for a shift in traditional literary education approaches to accommodate more dynamic and inclusive teaching practices.
