Purpose: The review was written to examine the effects of gender roles on gynecological cancers and to raise awareness. Method: This study was carried out by examining and compiling the existing literature. The literature research was conducted by examining Pubmed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Web Of Science and Cochrane databases. The keywords "gynecological cancer", "gender", "gender roles" and "women's health" were used in the searches. All studies published on the subject until February 2025 were examined. Findings: Gender roles may lead women to risky behaviors that pave the way for the development of gynecological cancer. While fulfilling their gender roles (motherhood, housework, etc.), women may put their gynecological health on the back burner. This situation may delay women's participation in gynecological cancer screening processes. Additionally, studies show that women prioritize gender roles in their lives even during gynecological cancer treatment. The responsibilities imposed on women by gender roles can negatively affect women's reproductive and sexual health and quality of life during cancer processes. Conclusion: The effects of gender roles on gynecological cancers should not be ignored in healthcare delivery. Especially in patriarchal societies, service provision and health care investments in gynecological cancers should be planned in the context of women's gender roles. Necessary training should be provided for this purpose and women should be empowered. While providing care, midwives must continue to care for women by considering their cultural structures.
